Lidar stands for Light Detection and Ranging. It's a remote sensing method that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure ranges (distances) to the objects.
- Emitting a laser pulse: A laser emits a short, powerful pulse of light.
- Measuring reflection: The laser pulse travels through the air and reflects off objects it encounters.
- Calculating distance: The time it takes for the reflected light to return to the sensor is measured. This time can be used to calculate the distance to the object.
